I was eagerly looking forward to this new card deck. Not so much an oracle or tarot deck, rather an inspirational guide to find the perfect mix of herbs, fruit, flowers, and spices to work with your energies and deep needs every day.
Divine Tea Time Inspiration Cards by Rockpool Publishing, created by Tracy Loughlin and illustrated by Sara Lindberg, represent a real well of knowledge and inspiration for the concoction of new and intriguing blends for herbal teas, decoctions and… witches’ brews.
As the author states on the cover of the deck itself, the act of drinking tea is all about how it makes you feel. An ancient tradition for comfort, refreshment, and healing, down to Japan’s highly elaborate tea ceremonies…
Mixing and savouring a tea is a true ritual in itself. A meditative channel to soothe and nourish the body and spirit, and rebalance one’s vital energy.
In fact, what the author recommends is to meditate on each card drawn, relishing the evocative and symbolic images, and the meaning of the suggested blend, for an all-round experience of wellbeing and spirituality.
Divine Tea Time Inspiration Cards consists of 40 cards, divided into 4 macro sets based on the proposed ingredients: Herb, Flower, Fruit, and Spice. Each card contains the suggested blend, the complete recipe, the deep meaning, and the benefits on the body, and finally a keyword – for instance, Relaxing, Detoxifying, Energising.
My favourite cards? Many! But if I have to choose, I was truly fascinated by Pine Needle Tea as purifying Herb; Red Clover Tea as calming Flower; Watermelon, Orange and Coriander Tea as refreshing Fruit; and Rhubarb Spiced Tea as relaxing Spice.
Cherry on top of the cake of these wonderful inspirational cards? The box includes a small plywood support to hold the card drawn on your Altar, at home, or in the kitchen while following the recipe to be prepared.
