Seasons of the Witch – Samhain Oracle

By Lorriane Anderson, Juliet Diaz and Giada Rose, Ed. Rockpool Publishing

Review

I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Seasons of the Witch Samhain Oracle deck and, of all the decks I own, it is perhaps the one I love the most.

A deliciously black and red box, with a full moon at the bottom and on the back of each card… A deck of cards in the same colours and its edge of a metallic and sanguine red… A luxurious eye candy right from the off.

The rich illustrations created by Giada Rose‘s skilful brush are absolutely exceptional, and immediately send me back to witchy, esoteric atmospheres, wonderfully inspired by the season of Samhain. Wild and macabre at the same time, these small miniature masterpieces reflect a feminine and wooded nature, with clear references to the Otherworld and to the multiple arts and archetypes of the witch.

Samhain, All Hallows’ Eve, Halloween. Cauldrons, candles, rituals. Transformation, seasonality, rebirth. Spirits, familiars, ancestors. Potions, crystals, otherworldly dimensions. The Seasons of the Witch Samhain Oracle encompasses within its 44 cards all the inspiration you need to let yourself be guided by intuition in the choice and interpretation of your spread.

My favourite cards from this oracle deck? The choice is very difficult, as I love them all! But if I have to pick a few, I loved Ritual, Cauldron, Third Harvest, Potions and Spells, Protection, and Candle Magic.

The accompanying booklet created by authors and spiritual workers Lorriane Anderson and Juliet Diaz is wonderfully crafted and very rich, almost a manual for divination and magical and spiritual knowledge in itself. It also includes 14 suggested spreads with beautifully evocative names: The Moon Phases Spread, The Healer’s Spread, The Witch’s Tools Spread, and many other very interesting proposals.

What else to say? I am completely in love with the Seasons of the Witch Samhain Oracle deck, I promote it Summa Cum Laude, and I recommend it to every lover of divinatory arts and witchy, dark, and otherworldly atmospheres.
