Review
Do you feel the spirit of Spring? I feel it loud and clear, in these first warm days, with Mother Nature blooming in all her beauty.
To enjoy early Spring in all its glory, lately I’ve been working a lot with The Language of Flowers Oracle deck, published by the visionary Australian publishing house Rockpool Publishing.
With the abstract art drawings and powerful food for thought by its author Cheralyn Darcey, well known Australian botanist, this deck transported me into its vision of a lush, generous, and eloquent nature.
And that’s not all: the art imprinted on these cards is not just botanical. Each plant is in fact portrayed with a landscape from a different part of the planet, thus giving a strong symbolic stimulus for exploration and travel for each card reading.
But the true cherry on top of the cake is the rich booklet that accompanies this oracle deck. Cheralyn offers not only many interesting card spreads inspired by the natural world – a bouquet spread, a garden spread, and others. Each card is combined with a flower, a landscape, and their meaning, but also with the botanical profile of the plant and gardening suggestions. This means that the work with each selected flower can pass from the metaphysical to the physical, and vice versa, for an immersive and profound experience.
My favourite cards? Difficult to choose, but I certainly feel particularly attracted to Frangipani and Puerto Rico, Forget Me Not and Germany’s Black Forest, Pyramidal Orchid and Stonehenge, Red Rose and Italy’s Temple of Flora, Edelweiss and Switzerland, and last but not least Daisy and UK’s Glastonbury Tor.
I highly recommend The Language of Flowers Oracle to all lovers of the natural world, of flowers, of lush and wild nature, but also of travel and its feeling of discovery, external and internal, that it always offers us. You can purchase the deck on the Rockpool Publishing website, and at selected retailers.
